Northern Territory
Description
Strictly speaking, the Northern Territory is not a State, but a federal territory. In this large area only some 200.000 people live. Your presence really counts!
The northern end of this territory has a tropical climate, wet in summer (November to April) and dry in winter (May to October). South is the desert, including Alice Springs and famous Ayers Rock, with some rain over the year.
You can get a glimpse of the tropics - on the Jatbula Trail, Edith Falls Wilderness Trail or Tabletop Track - as well as a taste of the hot inside of the continent, exploring the MacDonnell Ranges. This is the real outback for the looney hikers we are!
