The Saxon Shore Way is a popular walk along the coast of Kent, from the mouth of the Thames to Hastings, passing Dover. This is another Kent, partly low lying coastal plains, and in the south the white cliffs. This makes this walk a relatively simple undertaking.
The landscape of the Saxon Shore Way, always near the sea, is interesting, but much intrest can be found in the long history that clings to the coast, from the Romans, who wanted to keep the Saxons out, until our present time. Sandwich is one of the old harbors with two thousand years of history.
The walk allows one to see another part of Kent. In the interior runs the South Downs Way, a nice change to this coastal path.
