Loferer Steinberge
Description
The Loferer and Leoganger Steinberge are generally described as one group, but they consist of two different massifs. The area is part of the Northern Limestone Alps. It is a modest area, southwest of Salzburg, next to the (German) Berchtesgader Alps and Chiemgau Alps. Starting from the valley floors, many hikes in this somewhat arid region with its pine clad slopes are possible. There is also a number via ferrata.
The Loferer Steinberge form the northern part of the massif. Highest peak here is the Grosse Ochsenhorn, 2.511 m.
