Jacobsweg Amstelredam

Jacobsweg Amstelredam, den Oever - Haarlem - Amsterdam - Roermond, 385 km, 16 days

The Dutch Confraternity of Saint James reconstructed this important route for pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela. This Way of Saint James starts in the northwest of the country and crosses it diagonally to the southeast where it connects to the Via Mosana to Vézelay. It visits Haarlem, Amsterdam, Utrecht, ‘s-Hertogenbosch, cities with important cathedrals / churches.

This Jacobsweg Amstelredam is an alternative for the much longer and waymarked Pelgrimspad, a long distance trail maintained by Wandelnet. The main difference is that the Pelgrimspad is exploring the countryside, whereas the Jacobsweg Amstelredam finds the shortest connection between important places connected to the worship of Saint James.

The Jacobsweg Amstelredam ends in Roermond, where you have to continue on the Jacobspad Limburg to Maastricht / Visé and then the Via Mosana. Alternatively, it is possible to leave the Jacobsweg Amstelredam in the white village of Thorn and turn into Belgium on the Via Limburgica. Both itineraries will come together in Belgium and continue to Vézelay, Via Lemovicensis.
