The most famous trails in the Black Forest run north-south. There are also trails that run west-east, the so called Querwegen, cross paths. The Querweg Freiburg-Bodnesee starts at the Rhine valley near Freiburg and runs all the way to Lake Constance, hitting the Swiss border in Konstanz.
The highlight of this path is the full crossing of the wonderful Wutachschlucht, a deep, wooded ravine. This path it is not only about the Black Forest. After leaving the Wutachschlucht, the path sways through a landscape of ancient volcanic mountains. The last stage offers beautiful views of Lake Constance.
