Gutensteiner Alpen
Description
On the eastern frontier of the Alps we find the Gutensteiner Alps. No big elevations - Reisalpe (1.399 m) is the highest point. The area is largely covered in forests. There are also steeper sections with opportunities for climbing. Geologically speaking, the rocks are a mixture of lime and sediment. The city of Vienna is nearby, so expect to find lots of holidaymakers of all kinds.
A special attraction of the Gutensteiner Alps is the Hohe Wand, a limestone plateau with steep cliff like ramps, ideal for short klettertours. Many tours can be made in via ferrata.
